What's your super power?

I read this somewhere..."I make milk!! What's your super power?" Had to share this...love it! :)

My son is almost 7 months old and he's still on the boob. It was so easy for me to breastfeed him. I have heard horror stories about breast feeding and to be honest, I was terrified to try it. But, we have the hang of it and I hope to continue until at least his first birthday. We went through a biting spell after Bennett got his two bottom teeth, but he has learned that the feeding session stops momentarily when he clamps down! YIKES! We have saved so much money not having to buy formula and I have lost all my baby weight and then some!

Down side of breast feeding...tons of people are not supportive. They think it's weird or perverted. (Yes, someone told me it's perverted!!!) My sister in law keeps asking me when I'm going to stop. People look at me funny when I feed him in public and I'm usually covered somewhat. I feel like such a weirdo for feeding my child and that isn't fair! (Sorry...I need to vent!)

My mother breast feed me for almost 13 months. I decided to stop on my own and my mom said she was heartbroken! I hope that Bennett keeps it up for the whole first year. My original goal was to do it for 9 months and if he stops before them, we can use formula. I'm thankful that God made someone smart enough to make formula!

Oh...and I have baby fever. Not too sure where that came from. I have a few friends that are starting to try for a baby or are thinking about trying for a baby. I loved being pregnant (minus all the false labor pains, sudden drops in blood sugar levels, and need to pee all the time). I know that deep down I need to wait at least until Bennett is a year or two old, but I wanna be pregnant with all my friends! HAHA!!!

I think breastfeeding is a wonderful thing, all benefits aside, it's a miracle in itself.

Yes there are many weird feeling from other ... who cares ... your child will be (and it already is) healthier, smarter, closer to you because of it.

I wasn't fortunate enough to do this for long, I only did it for about 6 weeks, I wish I could of had more milk for him, he ate really well but was always hungry poor baby! It wasn't horrible, it wasn't weird. I tell you what was weird, to see my nephew who did not understand what my son was doing sucking on my boob when he went to see me at the hospital, he asked his mom why was his cousin doing what "animals" do! W-H-A-T!!! Yeap ... the child had never seen hear or been told that babies are breastfeed ... we live in a very "interesting" place :)

I don't condemned those who don't do it - I know you don't either - I understand is a personal choice, some of us are more fortunate than others and have more "supply" than others :)

Enjoy every second of Bennett like you already are doing. You are a GREAT MOM!!! Because whenever you have another child ... your time will never be exclusively for him ever again ... weird feeling, ha?!

I'm not sure why this has to be such a touchy subject. God made breasts for producing milk so we can feed out babies, there is nothing perverted about it! Unfortunatley I tried and succeeded for only 4 months but when I had to go back to work it became to hard to pump, nurse, work...I gave it up and it's one of my biggest regrets as a mother( I wanted to try until he was a year old as well).

The ONLY time it bothers me is when I see a child that is say, 3 or 4 and still breast feeding...that to me is just wrong. Sure the child doesn't know any better, it's ALL they know but the mother, goodness. When the child can walk up to you and pull your shirt up...that's when I feel it's time to stop.

I think there is no better time to have a second child. I often wish my kids were closer in age (there is a 4 1/2 year difference)...maybe it IS the right time after all!!

Totally agree with the older kids and breastfeeding. It is a little strange when they can pull your shirt up...I think a year is appropraite! :)
